FALLwalk

The only thing we lack, is awareness.

Fall is my favorite time of the year! I love seeing the leaves on the trees change color, walking the early evening with cool breezes and the Midwest smell of fireplaces, even though I live in LA!

It is also the time of year where, in a blink of an eye, it seems, the Holidays are among us. It is this time when I reflect back to see how my year has treated me; am I in the same chapter, have I grown into another, or am I in an entirely new book?

IF…I didn’t get that new agent, new job, new relationship, new adventure, why?

Did I unconsciously fall back into fear when I promised my heart I was open to love?

Eckhart Tolle in his book, “The Power of Now,” states something to the effect that most of us are living unconsciously, doing the same repetitive act over and over again, which is existing in a life of habit, not choice.

We can’t make a choice unless we are conscious there is a choice.

So, if most of us are unconscious, sleep walking or as I have called it, crawling from cradle to grave, no wonder why it may feel like you are living in the same chapter over and over again, ending the year the same way it began.

In my new book, which I hope has a “soon to be released” date attached this year, I state that one of my biggest challenges was believing I was conscious, when in reality I was not. It feels almost the same, but it is not.

There is a shift in consciousness; a slight difference making a huge difference!

I was no longer attached to human eyes, seeing only that which was right in front of me. I was no longer a reactive participant in my story but an observer. It was like I had an extra pair of eyes observing everything being played out, as if I had front row seats to the movie I was producing, directing and starring in. With a bucket of popcorn, I would watch my character in a really bad B movie, or an adventure, a thriller or a romantic girl flick, (my favorite, by the way) all part of my documentary, the story my habits were writing.

I was finally able to see why my story existed in one chapter as I continued to fall into the same relationship over an over again, into the same work that didn’t fulfill my soul and into the same agent that wasn’t working for me.

The sooner you see beyond human eyes,
The sooner you will see that the only thing that limits you is how you see.

You are meant to experience everything your heart is open to receiving, unless you left your heart on the baseball field the day your father never showed up, or on the floor the moment your loved one deceived you or maybe you really did leave your heart in SF?

If another year is ending and you are still in the same unfulfilling job, still have not gotten a new agent, still not in a loving relationship, still haven’t gone on that adventure that would change your life, than maybe it’s time to wake up to who has been the writer of your story, you or your habits?

The only thing we lack, is awareness.

Autobiography in Five Short Chapters

Chapter One
I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost … I am helpless.
It isn’t my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.

Chapter Two
I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend that I don’t see it.
I fall in again.
I can’t believe I am in this same place.
But, it isn’t my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.

Chapter Three
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there.
I still fall in … it’s a habit … but, my eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is my fault.
I get out immediately.

Chapter Four
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.

Chapter Five
I walk down another street.

We all need to crack the cement around our heart for the light to come through.

Fall into a new way of thinking by falling out of believing that your life is happening to you when it is happening for you to grow.

That hole is put on your path on purpose for your purpose; every fall is your friend, not your enemy, waking you up to something greater than yourself.

Happy Fall!
